I have tried many hosting companies and ixwebhosting is amongst the worst. Their server will go down frequently. We received so many complaints from our own customers that the website is not working. We get this just about everyday. And two days ago ixwebhosting.com servers were down for 4 hours. Yesterday it was down 3 hours. Today it is down now for over 2 hours and we are still waiting for the servers to work. We are hosted on NS13, NS14. This has got to be the most frustrating experience in our 9 years in ecommerce. We made the fatal error trusting to host our site with ixwebhosting.com. The first two months were okay but then after it went downhill. I think maybe they work really hard during the trial period so you cannot refund the month. I’m stuck now with a long period of webhosting plan. They won’t refund either and they will not provide you a good working server.

Islamist Site Containing Threats Against World Leaders Re-Activated

A statement distributed by the Global Islamic Media Front and located on an radical Islamic American hosted Internet site, contains a death threat against a number of world leaders. The site was initially suspended and since reactivated. The forum on the reactivated site is now locked, so it is impossible to tell whether the death threat is still housed on the site, but there is no reason to suppose otherwise. Ironically, the data center housing the Al Firdaws site is located 17 miles from Fort Campell, KY, home of the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division (www.campbell.army.mil/newinternet/main.asp).

The statement (at www.alfirdaws.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&t=9116) threatened (s), according to the Society for Internet Research (www.internet-haganah.us/harchives/005294.html), Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, Australian Prime Minister John Howard, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. President George W. Bush.

Contacted by e-mail, the Internet Haganah’s Aaron Weisburd said the posting promised kidnaping to be followed by decapitation. Weisburd said according to the statement the plan is in place, including the proposed location for Berlusconi’s slaughter.

The Global Islamic Media Front (GIMF) is known as the voice of al Qaeda on the Internet.

ISP APOLOGIZES FOR TAKING AL QAIDA LINKED SITE DOWN

Last Sat. I called the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and alerted an employee to the Al Firdaws site content. He thanked me and said a company official would investigate. Within a couple of hours, the site was off line.

However, a couple of days later the Al Firdaws site was reactivated. Clearly identifying myself as an investigative writer, I called IX Webhosting (also apparently doing business as Hosting-network Gmbh and www.ecommerce.com) on Tuesday, to see if the company had reactivated the site or if its operators had switched to another service provider.

An employee who answered the telephone said that her company was indeed hosting the site. Then apparently thinking I was the Al Firdaws site owner, she launched into a profuse apology for the site being taken down, as there had not been, she said, any violation of the company’s terms of service.

I then reiterated to this individual that I was an investigative writer, not the Al Firdaws site owner, and that the site contained a significant threat against world leaders. Asked who made the decision to reactivate the site, the IX employee said it was a member of the company’s management. I asked to speak to a manager. The individual took my telephone number and name, and said I would get a call back.

Informed that I would be reporting the situation to the FBI, the IX employee said that the FBI could communicate with the company by the U.S. Postal Service if they wanted the site taken down.

I also told the IX employee that I would make public my conversation with her. Hearing this, she said I could not do that as to do so would be violating her constitutional rights.

It is clear that the content of the Al Firdaws forum violated (s) IX’s terms of service (www.ixwebhosting.com/index.php/home.dspPage/page/info.dspTOS). A portion of the company’s terms of service reads, “If inappropriate activity is detected, all accounts of the subscriber in question will be deactivated until our investigation is complete. Prior notification to the subscriber is not assured. In extreme cases, law enforcement will be contacted regarding the activity.”

AN AUSTRIAN CONNECTION

IX Webhosting, Hosting-network Gmbh and www.ecommerce.com all list their location as being at 247 Mitch Lane in Hopkinsville, KY. A Fathi Said, apparently based in Austria, is listed as being an administrator for Hosting-network Gmbh and www.ecommerce.com.

While I did not attempt to contact Said, here is a portion of a discussion (www.hostingdiscussion.com/news-and-pr/768-featureprice-com-closing.html) about some of Said’s reported business activities.

“Ecommerce.com is under control by Fathi Said (stolen), SiteandSites and a host of other domain names are owned exclusively by Fathi Said. Stay away from any site or business that has Austrian Ownership or Fathi Said or any other affiliation with Fathi Said. The problem with this is that Fathi will set up anywhere at anytime; you may or may not know who is actually behind that company. Fathi will use other names, and etc to fool you, be warned and be careful. Fathi while in office ran several businesses ‘on the side,’ and sold services that looked like the respective names but were indeed Feature Price (FP) services, no one at FP approved this but Fathi. Fathi also registered Dotregister domains for the clients and did not title them in the right names or addresses, but with 100% owned by featureprice client, these domains were held hostage, with numerous other domains like Featureprice.com unless the officers of FP were to give him over a half million dollars, the officers called the FBI for Extortion.”

THE DEATH THREAT AND RAKAN BEN WILLYAMZ

According to the Society for Internet Research (SOFIR) the statement was published on the al-Firdaws forum by “ialam al-islami,” who has in the past been a prolific contributor to GIMF forums and sites.

The ominous statement is attributed to “Rakan ben Willyamz,” an apparently collective name for native European converts to Islam roaming the continent, preparing to strike.

While there have been questions about the credibility of the statement, including the poor quality of the Arabic, as opposed to the first statement from the imaginary Rakan ben Willyamz (www.sofir.org/sarchives/005248.php), SOFIR said the threat shouldn’t be dismissed.

“Arguments in support of the statement (if not the threat) being credible, include the fact that it was distributed by the Global Islamic Media Front. That this ‘Rakan’ is a different and less-literate individual doesn’t necessarily make the statement non-credible. Since when are terrorists great examples of human intelligence? Certainly there is no disputing that the countries in question are all in al-Qaida’s sights … Increasingly the global jihad is waged by ignorant thugs, and their statements are likely to reflect that.”

The ben Willyamz name came to light earlier this year. The Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper (AAWSAT) reported (http://aawsat.com/english/news.asp?section=1&id=2577) in Aug. that ben Willyamz (or bin Williams), was being touted as someone who would “wreck havoc worldwide.”

Al Qaeda’s strategy “will depend on surprise such as when near simultaneous attacks were carried out in Morocco and Turkey. Al Qaeda’s aim was to target the border between Europe and the Muslim world, east and west, so let this serve as a lesson to the entire west; we have arrived at your borders and no one will be able to stop us,” AAWSAT reported that GIMF said on the Internet.

AAWSAT also reported that the British tabloid the Sun indicated al Qaeda was recruiting English men, and referred to six English-language web sites affiliated with al Qaeda that had published material encouraging Europeans to sign up for military training.

Earlier this year, AAWSAT reported al Qaeda warned on the al Firdaws forum, “Do not rejoice, Blair, as you will not be able to follow or halt the movements or stop al Qaeda’s new soldiers Rakan bin Williams … Al Qaeda’s new soldiers were born in Europe of European and Christian parents. They studied in your schools. They prayed in your churches, and attended Sunday mass. They drank alcohol, ate pork and oppressed Muslims, but al Qaeda has embraced them, so they have converted to Islam in secret and absorbed the philosophy of al Qaeda and swore to take up arms after their brothers. They are currently roaming the streets of Europe and the United States, planning and observing in preparation for upcoming attacks.”

The Al Firdaws site is registered to Marwan Alansary of the Al Firdaws Company in Amman, Jordan.

And yes they suspended me once too, after I called tech support, they said I was violating the TOS. I was not as I was trying to get my WordPress installed. I called them and after I cussed them out on the phone, I had to get really mad until they fixed things. If you use IX you will be sorry. I hate to say that but, I dont want others to experience the grief I have. Yes they are cheap, but you get what you pay for and I would rather pay more and get something reliable and something I can count on. You simply cannot count for IX webhosting for hosting a simple wordpress site. Page cannot display happens all the time.

I have had ixwebhosting since 9/2007, I do not recommend them at all. STAY AWAY. You will be sorry if you choose them because, half the time the pages on my simple WORDPRESS blogs do not display. The tech support chat is totally useless. I am in the process of changing hosting companies as I type this. The slow response has been a damage to my reputation. DO NOT USE them, they are total hype. I am glad I didnt rely on them more, I have several domains I am developing.

I get the following message each time I report the problem to their livechat:Sorry, unfortunately I can’t resolve this issue, please create a ticket to our administrators and they will help to solve your problem. You can create a ticket from your control panel -> 24\7 help desk – ticket center. And when I create a ticket, I would get a reply from them that should I get anymore error, please contact our live chat immediately. And when I contact the livechat, they would tell me the problem cannot be resolved by livechat, please create a ticket. Good grief! this fraudulent company should be investigated.

ixwebhosting.com is the worst hosting company exist. I have a very simple wordpress blog, and almost 90% of the time I cannot get to my web site. Each time I try to access my site, I get the ‘error establishing database connection’. When I asked them, they said that such problem is difficult to resolve because it’s a shared mysql server, it is possible that other users are abusing their server and it will take them time to find the users who abuse their servers and then they would mark my case as resolved. There tech support is horrible. The livechat is useless and waste of time. I have already send in my request to cancel my account.

Value for money. Great for starting out but they have a few weaknesses… The email system they use is SLOWWW and un-reliable You need to resolve (= be patient and wait) your own problems. Great for a non- critical site with not too much traffic. For a mission critical site, you will need to fork out more $$$s

I gave ixwebhosting a try. Right now at this moment, the server is down for 3 hours and i am still waiting for someone to fix it. I am told they send an email to their admin but what does that mean? I asked them to contact the tech support but they said they sent an email. I don’t know how much longer the server will be down. I will let everyone know when it is fixed. The server down is ns13.ixwebhosting.com and ns14.ixwebhosting.com.

IXWH has problems on occasion, like all hosting companies, and I’ll be the first to say I’ve been frustrated a few times. But, much of the complaints I’ve read here are obviously due to user error. I’ve been with them for over 5 years, and my site has been down once. That was when they recently moved their boxes to Ohio. For the money, they’re hard to beat. Put a bunch of salt on the loudest complaints. Especially the one from the idiot ex-employee that had his paycheck screwed-up. That’s hilarious.

Where was this site before I stupidly signed up with these yuts. What a horrible mistake. Web site goes down every 3-4 days. Yes, they get it up as soon as I complain, but that is not the point. Their servers are OVERLOADED and crash often!

I know, I know, for the price you shouldn’t complain. But this service is not that good, even for a basic site. I signed up and in the first night had major trouble. I use PHP emails on most of my sites, and in all cases the PHP mail server was BAD!! It took nearly 48 hours for some emails and many did not arrive at all. They apparently had this problem for months and still did not have it solved. Their Tech Support ticket system took days to respond and that was not good. Their live chat always resulted in them saying something like, “we cannot help you now, please raise a ticket”. Their service center would promise calls from tech support people, and again these would take days to call you. They offer you free months hosting when you complain, but that does not solve the issue. I cancelled within 4 days of hosting with them and moved to Bluehost. Bluehost has been a good option for me though I know others don’t like it, I think it’s a great service.

I worked for this company. The company that hosts is called IXWEBHOSTING. The callcenter for help is called Ecommerce. Located in Hopkinsville KY. They are a bunch of unprofessional screw ups. They lie to the customers and tell them whatever to get them off the phones. I know because I did it. They are also in with a bunch of Ukrainians. Prolly the Russian Mafia or something. Whole thing is shady. Too many people on the servers.. too much traffic. They won’t do crap for you. They mess up the employees checks and crap.. they are ghetto.

The email is down many times per week at a minimum. This has been going on for about 6 months. They finally said it was the server I was on, and could move me,but my mail would be down (delayed) for up to 48 hours due to DNS propagation (routing). I said: why not just replace or fix the server, since it’s gotta be affecting others. Copy the info, unplu the bad one and plug in the new one. Downtime of minutes maybe?That’s the reason I left my last host (adaptive.net). After 7 or 8 years, they went to heck too. If you rely on your email, as we do in our business, don’t use IXwebhosting.

Well I have read all the recent reviews and realise that one cannot rely on the ratings of these review sites as the posted reviews are very negative and yet the the company under review is at the top of the ratings list – makes one think………my own hosting company was dropped from this review site owing to 0% uptime over a monitoring period BUT gets a high rating for uptime on another ratings site (sigh)…
